thanksgiving weekend started with a big egg, potato, and french toast breakfast which was delicious. i made potatoes differently than usual, boiling them first and then cooking them in a pan with herbs. i suppose thats how most people make potatoes but i usually make them differently. two friends delivered a crate full of dumpstered food and flowers during breakfast which was full of lots of tortillas, avocados, cookies, limes, soups, breads, and other things i cant remember. ross, and i were thinking of having a taco party soon because we definitely wont be able to eat all those tortillas and avocados on our own. this thanksgiving was the first year i have ever cooked an entire turkey. at first it seemed quite the daunting task but i called my mom and she assured me it was easy. and it was. and it came out so yummy and golden and perfectly cooked. also on the menu was baked sweet potatoes, biscuits, macaroni and cheese, green bean casserole, cranberry relish, stuffing, and gravy of course! the green bean casserole was the best i have ever had. i dont usually say that about things i make myself but it was just so much better with fresh green beans and the cream of mushroom soup i used in it had so many mushrooms and such a distinct flavor. in the macaroni and cheese i used half cheddar, half pepper jack cheese (and a lot of it) which gave it a little spicy flavor. i think it was definitely the best thanksgiving dinner i have ever cooked. every year they seem to improve. thats how cooking works, i guess. we all ate on the kitchen floor, we have not yet acquired a table yet, and it was so toasty warm in there from all the cooking. riot had some turkey and loved it.
oh i made a pumpkin pie also, which was not the best pie i have ever made but still pretty tasty.
